Company History...

Mr. Woodrow W. Scott and Mr. Robert M. Gross established Scott-Gross Company January 1st, 1949.  The company was originally named The Bourbon Implement and Welding Supply Company and was located at the corner of Fourth and Pleasant Streets in Paris, KY.  The business phone number was 1555!Company History 1

As the authorized dealer for "John Deere farm equipment for Bourbon County" the company sold John Deere tractors "and all the other famous John Deere equipment" and offered a "complete John Deere parts department and repair service".  Additionally the company sold "welding equipment and supplies for both electric and acetylene" and the featured gases sold at the time were oxygen and acetylene.

Many changes have taken place during the past fifty-seven years.  We stopped selling farm equipment and tractors and developed a specialization for selling gases and welding supplies.  We moved our primary location from Paris to Lexington, Ky and our phone number changed from four digits to seven.  However, through the years and many changes one thing has always remained the same... a commitment to "total customer satisfaction".

Today Scott-Gross Company has corporate offices in Winchester, KY and is primarily known as a growing independent supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, bulk and cryogenic gases, dry ice, welding equipment and supplies, welder rental and repair, and propane exchange.  Retail stores are located in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas and Oklahoma.  Gases are distributed throughout much of the eastern, central, and southern United States from regional distribution hubs in Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.

The company also has a Specialty Gas Laboratory capable of creating an almost infinite number of custom gas mixtures.  Bulk and cryogenic gas service is supplied from Scott-Gross Company’s bulk product distribution facility in Winchester, KY, which also hosts a CO2 rail facility.

Thoroughbred Industrial Cylinder Exchange, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scott-Gross Company. The innovative "Thoroughbred Program"  is a turnkey gas exchange and purchase system that is available at leading retailers nationwide.  Gases available include oxygen, acetylene, argon/CO2, CO2, argon, helium and propane.
